Hi, Guys,

Been in the workshop again, and turned these to top up my stock for Saturday's fair. All the pens are Omegas, and have been posted to show some different woods.

CoachwoodOmega..jpg
Coachwood. This was like turning plywood (and ended up looking like it, too.)

Ilomba Omega..jpg
Ilomba. Very soft and coarse-grained wood, which had to be stabilised with BLO/CA after sanding.

Peach Omega..jpg
Peach. Good to turn/finish and, yes, that scar has been treated and is now as smooth a baby's bum!

Yellow Box Omega..jpg
Yellow Box. A hard wood, and great to turn and polish. (Exactly as Woody told me!)

I can tell you no more, gents!

Bob.

Thanks, Jim. Another offer like that other bloke made me would most likely put me into an early grave, mate!

Some nice pens there with some lovely woods, only one of which I have ever used (yellow boxwood) and one of which (coachwood) I have never even heard of until today. Hope the fair goes well - but not too well, because we want to keep reading your posts on here rather than hear that you have worked yourself into an early grave.

Today I had a yarn in Oncology with a guy I have befriended while we wait our turns on the big machines a bloke offered him a job in his retirement just bought a new truck wants him to drive it for him. Turns out its to shift timber I casually asked do you see BURLS he said they are everywhere and a lot of them are Coachwood and other Sth Coast timbers one mate of his has twenty ton in his paddock of them. He finishes his 39 treatments tomorrow I finish on Tuesday next.

He asked and I gave him my phone number the mill also does 1X1 inch square sticks I said I love figured wood lets see where this goes. Just saying. My ears pricked up when you mentioned Coachwood.
