I made this just before I went away for a long weekend and did not get chance to post it. Made from Ash and the lid is Beech with a sapele rim

Thanks all I have wanted to do the lid insert for a long time but never got around to it until this piece. There are only three pieces of wood in the whole piece. Also everything is turned which is what I was after.
The next lid I would like to make domed

Sometimes you just have to leave imperfections in to achieve the look you are after and sometimes they just appear in the wrong place it would have been nice if it was just a bit either up of down on this piece.

Ami I the only one wondering how the heck you did the lid? :nooidea:

A little pictorial for those of us who DO need a building to fall on us would be nice - please? :pray:

Oh, BTW - lovely bowl! :funny:

Just to let you know I entered this into a friendly competition on another forum which some of you I know frequent and it came in at a healthy second place:banana::banana:

On the lathe:funny::funny::funny::funny:

If anyone else want a WIP just on the lid I will do one in the very near future as I have something else on the lathe at the moment.
