Our turning club had a one Board Foot challenge. We had to turn something from any wood/s or other material that was no more than a total of one board foot, started as 1" thick material and it could be put together anyway we wanted or used whole but no more than 12" in any direction. I made this decorative plate using Satin Walnut (Red Gum) as the sky and White Oak being the windblown prairie. It is 11 3/4" across so I easily made the 12" rule. Finish is a Tried and True, a food safe linseed oil and wax.

Lovely piece and finish well done.
But Recently saw a bowl made from a 10" x 1" piece, finished piece stood approx 4" in height.
Don't think I took a photo but will see if I can find some somewhere.......

Found these three each piece was cut at different angles and glued together to give basic shape of the bowl ..... can't get the other two to transfer????

Some of the members made bowls from stacked rings cut on their bandsaws and some made segmented pieces. I think one used tapered staves for their bowl. There were a variety of boxes and one made 30 pens out of his board. It was a fun thing for the club to do and from time to time we will have other challenges to keep things interesting.
