This is factory bushings vs TBC bushings.  You can see the difference.  The TBC bushing is a close fit and a tight fit with little room which makes it more precise.  They are also LONGER inside the tube which adds support.

The problem with mandrel holes in the bushings is this.  There is a reduced surface area for the live/dead center to grip.  In many cases this may not be a problem but it COULD be a problem for some turnings.

TBC also allows slimline turning without a mandrel.  The top set is for a Gent Jr while the bottom set is for a slimline.


Top
