While a friend was round on Saturday I happened to show her a Purpleheart blank.

She has just ordered a slimline and a stylus (Fun-e-turnz style) in Purpleheart for a Christmas present for a friend.

No issue with making at all (I hope! Still haven't turned the JR Gent in ph yet) but more about how to present them as a pair.

Would you go for one of the standard boxes for the pen and separate box (earring style) for the stylus, custom make something or just bung 'em both in the same presentation box?

I have seen the other threads about presentation boxes but am really not sure which way to go.

Box??? Box??? Bung em in a bag and fink themselves lucky init?

Seriously: There have been a few threads lately about presentation boxes etc.
I have been trying to find some pics of the ones I have made in the past.
I am a great believer in trying to get something that suits the personality of the receiver, Ie: a log box for a lumberjack a pink bow for a poof, something in the shape of the persons favourite thing. I have made guitar shaped boxes and stuff.
It goes so much further than just a pen in a box, and often surprised the commissionaire into ordering more of my goods init?

Coll, there's always the fine line between great presentation and actually making a profit on the sale. If the customer hasn't paid you a premium high enough to cover a decent box then just do as Brian says. I make up little red velvet drawstring bags (cost about 10p in materials and I can run them off the sewing machine in a couple of minutes) which I use if the customer hasn't paid for a box. Looks the biz but it's cheap.

Otherwise there are plenty of threads on here about sourcing good-looking cheap boxes - if they're cheap enough I'd just put each item in it's own box.

My tuppence worth ...

I thought I was the only one to use a sewing machine, although I have never done anything as fiddly as that.

Thanks guys!

I will speak with the client and see what she wants to.

I have used a sewing machine for years (mainly for hammocks, snakeskins and tarps but have hemmed trousers and shortened curtains) so a small draw string bag is a great idea.

Our mutual friend (whom the present is for) really appreciates the crafty style so the draw string bag (in pink of course!) should go down quite well. :)

Grump - chucking it in a poly bag would probably work too! ;)

Well, I have just ordered 20 of the Kraft ones I linked to. Shipping is 3 - 10 days so I have no idea where they're coming from. I will post a review when they arrive. :)

Col, From my recent experience at the market last saturday the profound effect created by selling everything in a box together with your card and a spare biro refill totally impresses everyone. Like the draw string method as well, seals a deal for me.

Kind regards Peter.
