Good afternoon all
I recently posted a thread looking for a multi coloured blank that a customer requested but didn't realise that I had to post 5 times before I could attach a picture file so I imagine there are a lot of scratched heads out there? I was advised to introduce myself so here goes: (feel free to get someone to close down if you fall asleep)
I am now retired after a career in further education and training where I taught crash repair and car painting but I began back in 1900and frozen to death as an apprentice coachbuilder / commercial body builder and with seven years woodwork lessons at school I have always loved and been around wood all my life (so far!)
I got into pen turning because I downsized my workshop as most of us do and was looking for a model making site. I found Toys and Joys and built several of their cars and trucks but needed to manufacture a round barrel shaped petrol tank for a dumper truck and being dissatisfied with several hand carved/ filed/sanded/routed attempts I bought an Axminster lathe. Well the lathe took over and rest as they say... I've been turning pens for about 8 months now and never seem to tire of it.
The advice on the site is invaluable and I look forward to contributing whenever I can. Must go now - nurse is calling.
