Well our HP printer went to printer heaven on Monday, it must have known it was close to going in the bin.

We have had a few HP printers in the past and all have been ok'ish but this one has been problematic from the start.
For absolutely no reason it would just drop it's Wi-Fi connection, other times it would just leave the home network, then it went through a phase of just not joining a network no matter what I did.

Now, thankfully, it has just given up the ghost, I have done everything to try and revive it, I have even shook it and thumped the top, still nothing. So today I cancelled my ink subscription with HP and ordered a refurbished Eco-Tank. The model is the ET 2711 that I got from eBay for £95 (Had to haggle a little  )

So does anyone here use an Eco tank and if so how do they like it?
I like the idea that the ink will last for thousands of prints and does not use the pricey cartridges.:banana::banana:

I'm not using an Eco-Tank - - -yet.

My HP is still hanging on although hit has had some cranky moments. Can't complain too much - I have cranky moments also.

But I've looked at options, and have decided to go with an Eco-Tank when the time comes - probably after the current set of HP cartridges are empty. Epson printers have always had a good reputation although the operating cost was higher than HP (if that's possible). That's especially true in the photographic community where people seem to be very willing to pay a premium for Epson.

I had to buy a new computer a couple of months ago, and I asked the sales person about printers. He said that he had been reluctant to make that switch until he was able to pick up one using his employee discount, and he was surprised at how well it worked. I was impressed with his knowledge of computers and how well he was able to deal with the problems of setting up my new computer, so that gave me some confidence that his opinion of Eco-Tank printers was valuable input.

I installed literally dozens of HP printers at work over the years and never been a fan. Our old Canon inkjet just wouldn’t start up one day so I bought an Epson 6 colour photo printer a while ago. It’s obviously not an ECO model as I wanted it specifically for photos. It works well and goes onto our WiFi very quickly when turned on and is often asking if it can install updates! I’m pleased with it so far. We also have a Brother Colour laser but the network card failed so we can only print via USB.

You could do with an Eco-Tank mate, I have only heard good things about them.

It would be just my luck to get a duff one though :sob:

I’ve only had a couple of Epson printers but they’ve both been good. Our first one failed to start up after a house move so I’ve no idea what happened to it. It was a few years old though so we just bought a new printer. The Epson ECO’s look good but they’re not the only printer manufacturer making ECO tank models. Good news really as ink supplies can be notoriously expensive.
Good luck with your purchase Gary.

Had my share of HP printers. Not one of them entirely trouble free. Moved to Canon a few years ago and that was quite honestly the best printer I'd ever had. Eventually though, that one needed replacing (printers have to work hard here) and about a year ago I got an Eco-Tank. It makes the Canon look stone age by comparison, both in speed and print quality - and its running costs (ink) are a fraction of previous experiences. Very, very pleased with it, and more than happy to recommend it to anyone. I suspect different models may vary a little, but the one I have is a reliable workhorse, which I'd replace it like for like in a heartbeat if it broke.

Fully agree with the print quality Phil Dart the prints I have had so far have been top notch, I was sort of expecting it to not be as sharp as it is for some reason.

With mine being a refurb the ink came preloaded so I had to clean the printer head/nozzle, that took two cleaning cycles and is spot on now.
I did a print out of the usage (To Date) when I first got it and the info was very good news, First used on 2021/02/04 (Stupid way of showing the date) and had printed a total of 42 pages, I am over the moon with that, I can only think it has been on display in a shop somewhere, I also registered it with Epson so I assume first keeper/owner.

It's early doors but thoroughly recommend it.:thumbs::thumbs:

Are you happy with the Eco-Tank printer?:thinks:

Absolutely, :drool::drool::drool:

I would go as far as saying it is probably one of the best I have had and fully recommend it.
Only down side is I print a lot more than I ever have done previously :funny:

I have the Epson ET-4550
After the likes of HP were costing me a fortune in ink (WHY are they so expensive - Works out dearer that fuel per ltr?)
The Epson I have had for about 16 months now and its never let me down, easy to top up with ink, the ink costs less and I can print from anywhere.
I do mean anywhere, I can print off a report while I am in Scotland and the Mrs can then stick it in an envelope and post it for me

Really is a very good printer :thumbs:
