Thanks Alex

Both Bock and Jowo are German nib manufacturers and are the “go to” nibs for many independent pen makers. There are others of course (Schmidt is another I sometimes use) but these two seem to be the most common. They also make nibs for some of the bigger brands. For example Twsbi were once Bock but are now Jowo and, as far as I know, Pelikan use Bock.

In terms of performance it is generally thought (and is my own experience) that the Jowo is a bit wetter so you get a fuller flow of ink, whereas the Bock is a little springier (which I prefer). In terms of laying down ink both tend to offer the same quality, and are generally very reliable straight out of the box, (although Jowo did have an issue in the last couple of years where some of the housings had a flaw and kept cracking but they appear to have fixed it now).

Cheers

Ash
