Slim with comfort center band.
Had the barrels sitting in sunlight about 2 weeks before
finale finish but didn't get as bright purple as when I bought the wood
about 3 years ago.

I think Neil will tell you that purple heart does brown with age and I think UV in sunlight browns it quicker.
Still a showpiece though.

There are plenty of conflicting stories about getting
Purpleheart purple again.
I've left PH in the sun, in the dark, cold, hot, in the oven
and never got the same results twice.

Yes it's CA. I sand to 200 grit and apply a couple of coats of CA
Sand that to 500. Apply one more CA and go thru all nine micromesh.
Then friction polish. The actual finish looks better than the photo.
