Red Beech? - it's possibly Nothofagus sp. native to New Zealand, rather than English beech which is Fagus sylvatica.

Whatever, the grain looks very promising. :thumbs: Look forward to seeing this on a pen.

Pens in obeyance yet so many jobs time and the icy conditions, still in just over a month the weather changes for the better towards spring. I just listed 90 other Nth Queensland timbers most of them unknown to me rang my mate in Qld he is progressing with my next order of Aussie treasures.
