Had a look this morning. Noticed that the tailstock was out of alignment by 5 mm  to the headstock????

this was putting pressure on the bearing and making it slow to start under high speed lower torque.

Lucky i have 2 CL3 lathes and just swapped the tailstock over to the one i use regular and now it works, however the lathe still has to be started with no tailstock pressure on the bearing and once started only then can i tighten the tailstock to the blanks and start to turn.

How can the tailstock be out of alignment ??, when i tightened banjo the tailstock moved out of alignment even more,  putting more presssure on the bearing.
