Hi Dario,
I have not used either of the machines but if I had to choose it would be the Jet.
The machine I use and can highly recommend is the Nova comet 2.

I use the Heralds in my teaching workshop. I've not used the Jet but the specs are similar but with bigger bowl capacity on the Herald and slightly longer spindle capacity on the Jet.
I've heard people complain about the time the Herald takes to speed up and down but I think those people really need to reassess what's important in life! The only other complaint I've heard is about the position of the locking lever on the tailstock being awkward to get at but I've not found it a problem.
Things to note though!
The Herald only comes with a medium length tool rest whereas most lathes come with a long and a short. If you do spindle work it is worth getting a longer rest for it.
The tool rest adapter for off bed bowl turning is not included and has to be purchased at extra cost.
I have to say I'm very happy with how the Heralds are standing up to the abuse they can get from people on beginner courses!

My mate Andrew Hall is using the herald at present & thinks it’s the best value for money lathe at present. Andrew has a very wide range of lathe experience so he has the knowledge to make an objective choice.
The jet has a fixed head and is only 12” swing. The Record has a head that can be swivelled for larger bowls.
Another option may be this:
Midi Woodturning Lathe FU-350 | Midi Lathe FU 350 | Lathes & chucks | HOPE woodturning
Only 16” between centres but it’s got a 14” swing.
The Hope lathe appears to be similar to the Axminster AT350 which is the current version of the old 1416VS but at a more competitive price.

Some manufacturers including Record and Jet have I believe had problems with motors/speed controllers?
Axminster have sold many of the 1416 type over the years particularly to demonstrators/tutors/clubs and seem to be very reliable using a three phase motor and inverter setup. We have one at our club and I have one myself. If required you can get a bed extension to increase spindle turning capacity but it’s not cheap.
