Hi Folks:

I did search for the answer, but I couldn't find it. Does anyone know where Record Power lathes are made? I am not talking about where they were invented, designed, etc,, but where they are actually assembled. Thank you all vey muh.

As said, I’m pretty sure it’s China.

Some manufacturers charge a premium for lathes made in Taiwan but I don’t know if it’s justified or not?

I bought one from Axminster tools, an AT1416VS and have been very pleased with it. A friend bought a RP DML320, admittedly a bit cheaper, at the same time. He’s had three new motors and two speed controllers for it due to failure. He’s since been given a discount from RP to trade it in for a Herald. The Herald came with a wonky Banjo that’s since been replaced.

Apart from the more expensive Axminster models I believe some of the lathes sold Simon Hope also come from Taiwan but do check if it matters.

Edit: I’ve just seen you’re in the US so your supply chain will be different.
