Hi Pen Friends

Another fountain pen, this time made out of an old Omas material called Acqua di Bologna. I’ve added red acrylic accents and a chrome plated steel clip from Beaufort Ink.

The nib is a Bock number 6, engraved with my logo which is repeated in the red enamel cap cabochon.

It uses a Schmidt screw-in converter for the ink supply. Cap threads are 13mm triple lead.

This was a commission pen. Yes, much against my better judgement, I opened up a few commission slots for January. I can’t say I’m loving the frequent back and forth with customers, and having to take loads of photos of different blank combinations whilst they decide what they want. It reminds me of why I stopped doing this in the first place. Don’t get me wrong, I actually enjoy the interaction with people, and the customers I have are really lovely people. But there’s a lot of waiting around for decisions to be made, especially as the majority of them are in the US, and it’s a little frustrating when you just want to crack on and make pens.

Anyway I shouldn’t grumble, but I will of course! 😊

Have a great day.
Cheers
Ash

Looks gorgeous - and the red accents work splendidly with your logo cabochon.

The back-and-forth with a commissioned pen is half the fun for me - maybe not the waiting for replies part, but being able to deliver something that the client has been involved in from the raw materials and design right through to the finished product.

I've had a couple of screw-in converters that I bought over a year ago, but haven't figured out dimensions for drilling and such. Do you have a standard set of numbers you use for depth/diameter to drill into the tenon? Thanks!

Ash, go ahead and have a grumble.....you still have a way to go before turning into a grumpy old man.
I have to say ( myself being a grumpy old man ) that I like your pen very much.
The material is nicely understated, with eye-catching accents.
Good job all round.

Another cracking pen. Well done. I have stopped making kitless for the time being I can get any one to buy them.

I love a nice commission, saves me trying to make my mind up what to turn next!
That my friend is a beautiful colours blank and the red goes sooooo well with it, tbh I don't know what other colour would work...stunning mate...stunning!
