Hi, I have heard of Renaissance Wax on another woodturning group and wondered if anyone had used it?, thought it might be good on the Brass Casing of a 50 Cal Bullet pen as it's suppose to not show fingerprints.

It is good stuff. I haven't used it on pens. Although hard wearing it is still a wax but it would probably be ok for the bullety bits.

Renaissance Wax is a brand name for a "microcrystalline wax". Seems a bit expensive to me.
Renaissance Wax 200ml £15.50
Chestnut microcrystalline wax 225ml £10.75

I'll stick with the Chestnut version

I use it on my wooden pens, do a search using Renaissance, and see the finish it leaves, so you can judge yourself. The tin i have is over two years old, it does go a long way indeed Phil ..

I use it on all of my completed pens. I have had a small tin and it has lasted for ages. I rub it all over (Careful you lot not what you think) the pen and it keeps them looking good even after being handled

Powder coating or the expert in this field is Les in Red Deers methods the rest is playtime sometime its due to be redone soon..So many go army when you get up in the morning you go frantic cleaning and polishing. Finishes depend on the acids personal treatment of the owners. Every large show there are sales and demos of this Ren Wax it has a sincere following.Being so far removed what happens in the military now re brass is it coated or au natural?. Mind you not many people carry that calibre pen casing.I really like the cartridge pens.I will be interested in your solution.

Peter.

Renaissance wax was devoted by the British Museum to protect items while being handled, only needs a very small amount spread over the item & polished with a soft cloth to give long term protection. I use it & as far as I know Walter uses it on his pens.

Renwax is a white colour and colourless when put on pens, the microcrystalline wax I have is a buff colour. One of the main reasons renwax is popular is it's colourless properties and does not effect the colour when put on.

Microcrystaline Waxes not sure if this transposes but it gives a clearer picture of Renaisance product. It did not but easily found on Google.
