I am a firm believer in "you get what you pay for". If you buy this machine knowing it may fail sooner rather than later then by all means go for it. But if it isn't an urgent need why not save for a quality machine?

Or spend the same amount on a second hand one that is supposedly a better make John .. If it is only for light use then for me it is a good price ..

They have one of them at work but different colour.
Wasn't powerful enough to sand ends of blanks.:thinks:

Yep thats what worries me. I bought a cheap unit from Lidl a while back, a grinder/sander and that slows dramatically if any pressure at all is applied. I think I will wait till money is not too tight to mention.

Make yourself a sanding disc to fit your lathe and a guide fence similar to that that Terry has posted on here and it costs you next to nothing

I actually bought one... and I am returning it immediately. If you haven't already been tempted by what appears to be a bargain... DON'T. Although they are not 'plasticky', they are cheaply slung together and the standard of machining has to be seen to be believed! Mine arrived today. As I was assembling it, I was concerned that the faceplate showed irregular machining on the edge with some areas left as cast where the tool hadn't toched it. Never a good sign. As soon as I switched it on, I realised that I had bought a heap of junk. It was clanky and rattly and it was clear that I wouldn't get much use out of it before parts began to work loose. The reason for the irregular machining on the faceplate soon became clear. It was WAY off true with a pronounced wobble. It wobbled far more than the home-made disc sander I had bought it to replace (which comprises a plywood faceplate fixed to an aluminium collar and attached to an old Hegner motor).
Trust me, this thing isn't a bargain... it's just an expensive way of making sandpaper dizzy.

Sorry to hear this Ron, but thanks for posting it up here, hopefully others will see it and will deter them from buying one ..

Always grateful for a heads up I could not seem to get an accurate look at the specs. I value my 12 inch disk sander and a separate linisher they live in different areas in my workshop and you are righrt better to buy once IMHO.
