one's acrylic and the other is definitely wood (but I might have forgotten the wood I used.. :rolling:)

Another 2 nice examples.....
With the acrylic, once you have drilled your hole use a cotton bud and paint the inside of the hole (white acrylic in this instance).. .. It will stop the tube/glue showing through. You can also use contrasting colours to subtly change the blank or not at all when you want a brassy look. Some people also mix colour into their glue if using epoxy.
