One of the two Roman Harvests I made last week, specifically the rhodium with Black Ti accents had a breakdown today. I picked up the pen to give it a polish before putting it in it's presentation box and the clip finial came off leaving the part that fits into the tube, in the tube and the clip was separated. I will tell David, but I don't have time for a replacement so I have reassembled it using CA to get it into position and then using a drinking straw to keep things neat and tidy I drizzled epoxy into the the end. It should be okay as there is an opening that will allow the epoxy to reach all relevant parts to form a bond. I was a bit stunned and I will certainly be looking closely at them in future, although I have never had it happen before.

Now that is surprising Peter, especially with the thickness that these clips are .. There must have been some sort of fracture there surely .. :thinks:

I could see that it was originally glued in, obviously the joint wasn't good. It is a 3 party finial already assembled when we get it.

Friday afternoon kit mate. There's always one that slips through the net. Glad you got it back together though, it's a gorgeous pen:thumbs:

I am sorry to hear of this trouble Peter.
This is one of the things I don't like about making pens and also one of the things that make me glad to be a member here.
I hate it when anything goes wrong as I always think it is my fault and not a manufacturing error, at the same time time, a mention on here and the problem/s disappear.
Sorry to drift off at a tangent but I still am worried about not making a proper job, but I realise it may not be my fault (entirely).

When I look at the parts of this kit, it is so well made that the last think I think would happen is what just happened, in fact I would never have thought that it would happen. I know that I have assembled it correctly and nothing was dropped, so I have to put it down to a rogue kit part, but I want to get hold of a spare if I can.

These things do happen now & again but it's a bit of a surprise when it happens to a pen kit that we perceive to be of a higher quality

David always made good any thing like that.

I have faith in David, but I should have taken a photo before I reassembled and repaired it. I will email him tomorrow though.
