I do know exactly what you mean and I would normally have taken more off.  My excuse for not taking off more is that on the weekend at Yandles show I bought a honing mop for my Robert Sorbey Pro.  I sharpened my skew chisel to a razor like sharpness and didn't want to touch the bushes and blunt it.  I'll clean my glasses for the next one and get closer.
