Not Spalted but rotten. This blank came from a tree that had water ingress due to a lost limb. The largest cracks are filled with a black powder and Ca. 4 1/2" x 2" finished in Chestnut finishing oil.

That is a worthy bowl from a manky piece of timber, lovely results, it looks very different. Hope it didn't fight tooo much:drool::drool:

Lovely little bowl Neil having done some very soft and punky wood myself I know the fun that you had with this.
