Salad Bowl the end

Well here is my salad bowl, i set out wanting to make a usable bowl rather than an ornament. Would like to say thanks for the help with a food safe finish, in the end i went with Pierre's suggestion of grape seed oil and pure beeswax. His suggestion of 80% oil and 20% beeswax was good though in colder times i think it will need more oil. The outer surface has four coats of sanding sealer and two of wood working wax.
I finished this yesterday giving the inside of the bowl two coats of food safe oil made by my own fair hands lol. Trouble was i got a big withdrawal symptoms so started on a pice of ash. Think i am going to have to ration myself or i will be knee deep in turned objects.

Couple of nice bowls Ken, be interested how the finish holds up to moisture etc, I tend to finish the outside with the same finish as the inside. I prefer the second bowl, but I'm pretty sure its Yew not ash

I am not that good at wood recognition, when i bought these blanks i do remember Yew being mentioned but as i bought about eight different pieces i guess i forgot.
I just enjoy the turning.

Well done on the bowls I also agree about the same finish being used on the inside and outside. Be interested to see how it fairs in use.

Like many I like the second but would have liked to see the outside with a flowing curve rather than the sudden change in the angle, but that is a personal thing.
