I took His Grace Woodys advice and didn't try to make an exact match. My story is it makes the salt easier to pick as it's the biggest :funny:

I don't think you need a story, there's nothing wrong with them at all, you've done a fantastic job with some wood that isn't the easiest to turn and finish.

Nothing wrong with that, and having two, makes the first shine more IMHO and I'd point you to my signature, as advised by grump one day....

Really like this pair. Tell me do you need to use any special finishes on the inside because of the salt?

No, but be warned that being salt it will extract any remaining moisture from the wood damn quick. Chris West suggests that you don't fill a new salt cellar very full, but whether there's any science in that or just a hunch that has become enshrined in wood turning gospel I don't know.

I thought that this was maybe the case. So basically use as dry a wood as possible. .

I always put some grains of rice in my salt cellar to stop the salt getting damp as it helps absorbs moisture,I don't know if that would that help in a wood one??
