Salt & Pepper grinders with celtic knot

I thought I’d share these with your folks.
Not wanting the extra faff and fiddle of the more complicated crush/grind system I used these.
only two internal hole sizes needed, 25mm and 38mm. The 38mm recess in the base can easily be made with a square scraper. as the mechanism is held in with screws they can easily be dismantled if the CU fairy intervenes.
My first attempt at trying to make an identical pair of anything. I did not quite get the shape of top right.
Made from oak with walnut celtic knot.
Would have been nice to use some different light and dark coloured woods to differentiate between salt and pepper. But getting contrasting veneers of the right thickness to match the saw kerf needed when cutting the knot would be difficult.

Thank you. Preparation is the hard part. Starting with perfectly square, in cross section, blanks is key to the appearance of the knot. Preparing square pen blanks at ¾” is a doddle compared with the 65mm blanks used for those grinders
