As you know I am having problems with my right hand, I'm not letting that stop me, when I am wet sanding I can't feel what my fingers are doing. I must have presses to hard with one finger.:sob::nooidea:
Oh well another few coats to cover this.

Can't you use your left hand for sanding?

How about using a finer grade of paper Mark which won't be so bad if you press hard? it'll take more effort to get your finish though :thinks::thinks::thinks::thinks:

1. Loosen the belt on your trousers
2. Put your right arm between the belt and your trousers
3. Re tighten your belt, with your left hand

Now you WILL use your left hand for sanding

Well that's one way i suppose :nooidea:

Try what I do Mark,as I go through the grits I count the number of times I go from one end of the to the other end. Starting at the right hand end sand to the l/ h end & back to the r/h end, this counts as one stroke. I count in multiples of 20, it's easier to keep count. Work out the no. of strokes to suit & sand with each grade the same amount of strokes. At least it will give you a consistency of sanding without hopefully going too far. I do it this way because I can't see to sand & it works for me & you soon get used to the count. Best of luck

It sound to me that now is a good time to get an apprentice to do this sort of mundane work for you whilst you concentrate on having fun with your hand strapped down your trousers....in the future I can forsee armed conflicts arising about whether it should be strapped down the front of your leg, or down the side or even...lawks a mercy..... down the back........hush my mouth!

or you could...

Wrap the sandpaper around a 2" stick , at least that way if you oversand you won't get finger shaped depression in the blank, then you can use any of the other suggestions above. Good Luck with it

If you don't have any problems with the feeling in your feet, use your toes:banana:

ACTUALLY with the amount of room by this lathe, hanging from the ceiling sanding with my toes would give me a lot more room.:ave_it::ave_it:

That would make a great video:kiss:
