This is not the best finish I've had - it was the first one I've turned since sharpening my gouges and I think I was previously working to accommodate the bluntness of my tools, and now they have the correct angle and sharpness back I caught the blanks a couple of times :rolling:

Anyway here it is:

That blank goes very nicely with the satin plateing and you have a nice shape too. Personally I would also paint the inside of the hole in the blank ( cotton buds are ideal) and stop the tube showing through:thumbs::thumbs:

Looking good and certainly getting there.

Like the blue matched with the satin platings as well.

Agree with Mark (Flexi) with the painting.

I either use a cotton wool buds or a bamboo BBQ stick with a little cotton wool wound around the end to get inside the drilled blank.

Main reason for painting inside the blank is to hide the tube, but also to hide the glue that would be between the tube and the blank.

Some paint the brass tube only but on some blanks you can see the glue marks between the blank and tube.
