Hi,

I have made three loong dragon pens,
One for a friends partner or e for a friend's autistic son and one for a Chinese friend who absolutely loved it and she even sent pictures to her dad in China. I also have one pen kit left to make.
Great kits from penkitzandbitz.

All the best

Hi Lance, Have you got any photos of the pens? Would be great to see them. Last year at market in Okehampton, a few Chinese tourists came to my stall & one guy bought a Loong dragon pen from me to take back to China as a gift. I originally imported my kits from China; so I was chuffed that the finished article was exported back to China.😄👍🏼✍🏼

Hi,

Sadly I didn't take any pics, the place u bought the loong kits from is penkitzandbitz Dave sells them for £13 ish and is a valued supplier and respected. The ones I have made are all with a charnwood blank called Volcano, red black and silver acrylic.
Chinese favour the colour Red as a sighn of good luck. I have a antique rose copper kit and a volcano blank and make on up.

They do make a heavy pen though don't they ;-) my friends boy I made one for is autistic and he loves it. Also I'm dyslexic and I prefer a heavy pen.

All the best matey

Smashing pen. I did one of these pens for the missus, because she loves dragons (and certainly isn’t one). I bought the blank on the Bay,probably 20 in total, and the blank l chose to use absolutely blew me away when turned. It looks just like a map of sorts in just the kind of place you’d imagine a dragon lived. I’ll post up a couple of photos tomorrow so you can see what I mean.

Thought I'd have a go at scallop segmenting all the way along a pen. So, as the scallops look very similar to the scales around the metal parts of the dragon pen; I've used African Blackwood with Padauk and alternated the scallops which contrast really well I think.

Nice piece Gary, I've done 2 scallops so far, both with the same 'vanishing point', is yours achieved by the Paduk's centre point being ~5mm lower than the Blackwood's?
