Good idea. If I am careful I might be able to re-use the old handle on something else and get my full pounds worth. :thinks:

whilst you are making one of these, hollow grind some slotted screwdriver bits. they are far superior to the taper ground ones generally found.

I've got a few of them, might have a try. Main problem will be getting a good secure fixing as there is a fair amount of rotational force on a screwdriver.

No problems from where I stand my stepdrill (the original reamer from nearly thirty years) still takes on glue clearances and hand reaming for almost all pens I make and it had a smooth metal shaft glued in in the rare event of failure new handle piece of the proverbial cure.

I use a similar device to lock the tail stock with a straight Allen bit very firmly for years now on my Taig Lathe.

Only problem with Chinese Monkey Metal tools is that they usually are "Use once then throw away".......

If that is what you want to do then Why don't you buy it from the states.

There is things like aeroplanes and boats now a days that go between their country an ours. They call it shipping, we call it posting. . Now its very easy..:rolling:

While I agree with grump it is simple, but if you wanted one of the originals then buy it. ..

My idea is don't wait for your boat to come in, swim out to it... but then that would be me buggered or drown as me backs knackered..:vangry:

To a point yes. But I DON'T like ordering from the US I have been stung three time with tax and charges. From China, fine. They lie about it's worth and that has always worked. Even buying from anywhere in the EU works. Buying something for £60 in the US cost me over twice that so that lesson was learnt.

I took the Grumpy approach. Bought a cheap driver from the Poundshop. Knocked hell out of it till the handle dropped off and was left with a good starting point.
