Pen is finished in Olive using melamine and wax. Orange and black resin off cuts this time for centre bands, cabochoun and pen clip. I am finding the pen clip insert the most difficult to make as I am holding it in one hand and using files, sandpaper and micromesh. Resin is really flexible due to lack of thickness. My finger ends are also getting filed and sanded!! Anyone know of a better way of doing this? My vice is too big and my wife refuses point blank to hold it.

Lovely pens. I can’t help with your question as I haven’t done any. But I’d be happy to sacrifice a bit of skin for them results. Really nice touch.

Great effort on the work there Ian. I'd consider trying complementary bands/clip in a darker wood, Olive itself, or maybe a plain darker acrylic. The contrast between the wood and acrylic colours it's quite grabbing me, but that's just one personal opinion and my wife's told me many times I'm wrong about a number of opinions ;)

As for work holding I could only suggest attaching it to something larger that can then be held in a vice, then cutting the holding portion off afterwards and tidying up the back for attaching to the clip.

Perhaps double sided tape on a dowel to allow access when working on the clip decoration. Using Blingless the excess bling is it worth it. In agreement the bands are too proud but love the top insert and the clip decoration.

Another super pen and I like the colour more than the first one. The thickness of the bands doesn't bother me, great pen.:thumbs:
