Hi guys, since my bench grinder is being used elsewhere for the time being,i've been having a lot of success sharpening my scrapers (and skews) with my japanese water stones that I use for hunting knifes, about 4-5 strokes over the top of the tool with the stone and the cutting edge is razor sharp again without touching the original bevel,I also sharpen skews using the same method, rather like a chisel except flipping it over and doing the other bevel too.

I just wondered if anyone else does the same thing?

If anyone is interested in doing this (it's super quick, don't need a power source just a stone and oil/water) you can get a set of 3 diamond plates from ebay for less than a tenner!
