My suggestion is to look carefully at a magnified image of your chisels after using the stone or the diamond then make up your mind how clever the edge you put on is or how rounded you made it. A quick look with a strong light along the edge will also tell all. It will do your water stones a disfavour as well if you want them flat again some surgery to the surface will become apparent. Have success anyway you choose but there is no such thing as a free lunch just saying Matt.
