Evening all,

Here's a set made from Oak comprising a mach 3 chrome handle, black badger hair brush and a bowl.

All finished with sanding sealer and melamine lacquer.

Would be interested in your thoughts on the finish and what you would suggest?

Great looking set Gav, however I would like to see what they look like after a few uses and water and shaving foam in them..

Finish, shape and a style looks superb tho.

The kit and the brush are from Vince at The Turners Workshop.

My bowl has dulled a bit, and this one is out 'on test' with a mate!

I've had a few enquiries for the set, and one order!

Need to work on a stand now......

Thank you all for your kind comments.

No. Slightly bigger, I got the bushings with the kit.

Otherwise all the usual 7 mm stuff.

I wish you good fortune with them and think it's a brave thing to do.
They all look fantastic, I hope the test proves them to be satisfactory although I have reservations.
Keep us informed init?

Nice set indeed. I would have a look at OSMA oil for finishing it, its what's used on oak worktops and really does work.

It certainly looks very nicely turned Gav, and the finish looks good. I have looked at these sets several times and i always walk away unable to justify the price for the full kit .. I know i will buy it one day, but i will dress it with Acrylic to be on the safe side ..

I finished my razor and brush with CA (including soaking the end grain) and it looks 'as new' eight months of almost daily use later. The bowl was finished with a few coats of Danish oil and has dulled a bit. Lovely looking set BTW!

Hi Gav, I have a beat up shaving brush I,ve had for umpteen yrs made of painted (outside) wood it is still hanging in there there the brush is like my hair thinning as we speak.

Your shaving set is amazing mate amongst the best I have ever seen and being oak and unless you leave the items soaking in water for a week or two I predict a long and happy existence for it the style looks rugged and simply awesome IMHO.

Kind regards Peter.
