I've done a few of these Razor Kit, Badger Brush & Standard Stand Kit and found them to be very good.

I know you can get better quality brush heads, but how many people need one ? Not sure, it may be a bit like a Bentley v a Ford, they both work but one is just "nicer". I'm sure Rod already has a hit man on his way to my front door as I type :funny:

I'd use acrylics if I were you or be prepared to mess about trying to lacquer the brush and razor all over to stop water ingress. I did one for Dad a year ago and the brush shows signs of "whitening" where the water has got into the finish.

Although they do look bloody good in wood IMHO. Here's my last one in Yew http://www.penturners.co.uk/other-things-we-turn-make/8580-shave-yew-sir.html

One nice tip would be to put a coin of his birth year in the brush.

If you think of anything I haven't mentioned just ask in here or PM me.

I've made a couple Vic for family, one in Yew, one in blackwood and they look great but I have the same water ingress reservations re wood. The most common is to fit Gillette Mach 3 blades though I use Fusion blades and bought a couple of kits from TR which they got from the US for me as I can't find them in the UK. I have one of these prepared and glued in to a bit of tru-stone for my own use but can't get the matching brush blank so might need to re-think that one.
I would also always go for chrome over gold finish but thats personal preference.

Love the idea of the birhdate coin Phill, I'm going to nick that:thumbs:
