Another shavings pen, this time with mainly the turnings from the catamillo rosewood. Finishing it was a female dog as small pinprick holes kept appearing.

Bloody gorgeous mate!!! Moody darkness in all it's finery. And using sawdust gives it a really wicked effect. Spot on!:bravo::thumbs:

I get a tube and coat it for about 1/2 inch with medium glue. Then press on some shavings. Then soak that in thin ca and keep adding the shavings and soaking in ca. If you can press them in it helps but when turning you will get some holes that you just fill with shavings and ca. Finish with a few coats of ca and polish. Its a bit time consuming but well worth it.

I've sold several of these pens and they always go for the top money. They're the first pens people pick up.

Lovely pen Paul. You must have the patience of a saint !!! LOL:thumbs::thumbs:

It doesn't take a lot really Terry, once you've started it goes on pretty quick. The turning needs very sharp tools and you get the occasional knock out but its easily fixed and the result is worth it. The worst thing about this is the amount of fumes the ca makes, enough to kill a bull so be very careful when doing it. I am fortunate to have a respirator so am not affected by it nowadays.

Paul, I have been collecting a few different wood and acrylic shavings. Didn't know why but you have stirred the old juices again....

I'm glad to hear it Rowdy, I'm sure you'll make a fantastic job of it and probably won't have to spend the night chewing ca off you ringers :funny:
