My favorite on from today. Went with the darker centre band, and a bit of aluminium to break it up a bit. Brown oak and ebony, sanded to 1200 grit, friction polish and microcrystalline wax finish.

I like the mix on this one..

BUT... Is it me or does the nib look offset and slightly stepped on the left hand side in the picture. Could be a shadow but looks slightly out of centre. Or not round..

I like that Brody! I did one yesterday with a blackwood centre band, ill see if I can get a piccie and post it up later.

How open was the grain? Did it need a bit of filling with the polish?

Cheers Ed. The grain was as open as the red sea after that moses fella had been along:funny:
I did add a coat of sealer after sanding. Probably should have mensioned that earlier:whistling:

Looking forward to seeing your pic mate!

Lovely pen Brody, how come you go so high with the sanding grits? I usually stop at 600,any advantages of going higher?
Cheers Matt. It was just to get as smooth a blank as possible before adding any finish, as the grain was very open.
