Slims in Silver Birch and Cotoneaster.
Stream in spirit stained Wych Elm.

The Cotoneaster turns like a dream, and would probably be good for those who make segmented stuff.
The Wych Elm was a very boring piece that was stained, then knocked back in an attempt to make it interesting!
I quite like the Birch.
Comments welcome.

Three well turned pens Neil, before reading your comment below about the Cotoneaster wood, i already had the thought that it would be a good wood for segmenting with .. :bwink:

A very pleasing trio Neil. Liking the spirit stained one, gives it a richness and makes it look a bit like Wenge with its geain structure.:thumbs:

I have never heard of Cotoneaster, I think it would look nice on a FP, but all 3 are nice pens.

Thanks guys.
The spirit stain was indeed black, coated then gently sanded to remove the excess.
Cotoneaster is a garden plant, more of a large shrub than a tree. It is incredibly dense and will blunt a chainsaw in minutes.
Apart from the pith, the wood is a uniform colour throughout, so you can get quite a lot out of a small section.

Neil
