Small Bullet pen!

With apologies to Mark who 1) knows about shooting and 2) knows about making pens...
I've cobbled this together:

It's a Winchester 243 (doesn't mean a lot to me I'm afraid)
And as I've only made kits before, I'm quietly quite proud of myself in making it into an actual working pen!

Personally, I like the shape and weight of it, with my arthritic fingers.
Any tips and tricks appreciated!

Tricks and tips...I would have turned the case around, yes it involves a little metal work( drilling the base 7mm) but you could have used the clip then.
Most cases can be used, the easiest are the .30 size cases or .303 .308 .3030, I think there are files on these to make with 7mm kits. Others can be done if you use original projectiles drilled to become nibs or find a fountain pen kit to fit

As long as their fired...ie have a dimple in the primmer I pop this out....( 3mm drill bit and a nail) you can use the primmer pocket to center the case. I use a pen blank vice, sharp bit and good speed ...no bother!

Now to slim down that lower half timber to achieve balance but hey for your fingers quite an answer.

Try drilling on your lathe. First tap the centre of shell out with a sharpen punch through the centre hole seen on the bottom of the inside of the shell casing.

I drill all my cases in a collet chuck on a metal lathe. I also drill and tap the base of cases for my shooting buddies so they can screw them onto a Hornady overall length measuring gauge. So they can set precise bullet seating depths for accurate shooting over long distances.
