Hi, Guys,

I'm looking for insurance to cover Third Party claims, etc. It is becoming increasingly rare for venues to allow stallholders who don't take this out. Any info, please?

Regards,

Bob.

Bob, I find A plan excellent for insurance, they've sorted all my business needs at reasonable rates.

Thanks for the info, guys!

What I should have said is that I am looking for Public Liability Insurance. I'll be the only one on the stall, which will sell pens only. Any ideas on cost of this?

Bob.

our small carving club(Kibblesworth Karvers) are having problems getting insurance as well. Seems companys don't cater for the likes of us.

The organizers want you to get insurance cos they don't want their's claimed on, makes it cheaper for them to take your dosh.
Insurance companies don't want to insure you cos they see it as the organizers responsibility catch 22 init?

I don't care, if they want me to do a stall at their event then they will cover me simples init.
Probably the reason I don't get asked very often, I certainly ain't asking them and paying for the privilege.

If Ian Wallace uk craft insurance is still going they were very good when my dad and myself used to use them.

Reasonable rates and good cover.

Again, many thanks for your information, guys.

I agree with you, Brian - some organisers insist on us having 3rd Party insurance, etc. purely to lighten their insurance premium. Problem is, when a seller like me (who sells mainly at Xmas) has to shell out over £70 insurance, on top of the costs of table, car parking, fuel, etc. etc. it works out to over a hundred quid for 6 hours trading. You've got to sell a lot of pens to recoup this sort of dosh - and make a day's wages. I think I'll pass on the event I was looking to attend!

3rd party liability may be included on your houshold insurance policy- worth checking. If you are a business rather than a hobby though it probably won't stretch to that.

Bob, have a look at a-n The Artists Information Company https://www.a-n.co.uk/about/about-a-n

I joined as an individual (yes as an artist) cost £36 per year, you are covered on their insurance £5 million "Public and Products Liability insurance (PPL)", documents will be made available to show you & any organiser you are covered, additional insurance is available to cover stock / materials & other things if you need it.

Hi, Billy,

Thanks for this - I've filed it for future use. Funny, ennit - when I queried the need for insurance with the event organiser, citing the fact that it will probably not be worth my while attending, she immediately dropped the demand for me being insured, saying, "It's up to you." LOL!

OK, I understand that under certain circumstances there IS a need for insurance, but if I'm the only one running the stall, accept that if someone nicks a pen or two then it's my loss, and am not stupid enough to leave trip hazards everywhere, I don't see how the buggers can charge me £70 for a few shows over the Xmas period.

Thanks again, matey!

Bob.
