Had a large lump of walnut 8" square by about 12" long by the time I cut out all the splits that had occurred I ended up with a piece 3 1/2" square X 12" long, started to turn it and more splits so this ended up being 6" tall X 3 1/2" across. I can get some other stuff out of it so not all is lost.

Thank you all I enjoy turning walnut along with quite a few other woods. Just a shame about the splits
