Terry that Jarrah you gave David really stinks so my Q is is it normal to smell like that David gave me a bit at the southern meet.
Never heard that timber smells before, some timber is ugly seems like the dock in a former life.
Peter.
Peter,
If anything has been near the docks in the north east it needs to be handled with rubber gloves. A few years back, and this is a totally true story, we had a larger than normal influx of Asian medics many of whom settled and found work in the north east. Unfortunately their medical training had not trained them for the local descriptions of ailments. The Doncaster HHS trust had reason to publish a document which provided the ethnic influx with a translation, one of which I remember well. "Fish docks, - An odorous vaginal discharge, used in the context, earrrr Doc, I got fishdocks"
Hence the smell of the wood from the docks!
I'm going to add that to the list of thing I really didn't need to know, Neil ...![]()
Yup, I'll corroborate Frankie's account. Smells like very old cheese rubbed into a crofters armpit. But then this particular piece did spend a number of decades submerged in the Humber docks, which no doubt has something to do with it.
It's a wonder that the blanks didn't get up and fight you. Especially after being submerged in the Humber docks.....
Im thinking of boiling it.
