The Broadwell kits are an object lesson in tasteful design and the designers of some of the hideous bling that comes out of PSI should be made to take note.

Oh, and congratulations on taking on the challenge of drilling and turning snakewood. It makes a beautiful combination with the components but I hope it stays in one piece for you.

My previous efforts lasted 9 months before splitting. I chose this style pen for the snakewood as it has much thicker ratio from inside to outside Diameter.
This wood has been in my workshop for 3 years. Fingers crossed

You did beard the lion in his den mate I have success with Snakewood but on one swap with the IAP a guy sent bme a blank he said was sound when he packed it, it arrived split all through.

You made a good pen , like the kit bling the join to the tip is quirky needs getting used to for me.

Terry my useage of this beautiful timber tells me it is almost impervious, it is a nightmare to drill, very tight grain.

Congaratulations Thomas - a notoriously tricky wood. Just out of interest, what IS the ratio? Do you remember the drill size? I'm guessing the components are about 12mm, sort of sierra sized , right?

Bush sizes are .345 inside diameter and .495 outside diameter so the thickness of the end product of timber is .150 ( 3.81 mm thickness ) and takes a 3/8 drill bit.
