Just joined the forum and thought I would show what I turn as well as the pens.
Been turning these for about 6 months, they are called drip tips for electronic cigarettes.

This is what they look like when teamed with what they call the atomiser.

Thought it would be good to show, lol
They are all about 20mm high and turned with a tungsten carbide round tip on the Robert sorby turn master tool.

They're all very nice and a novel idea Garry but I haven't got a clue what they're for as I'm not a smoker. They're all turned and finished very nicely though.

LOL woody, yes I can see that now.
And thanks for the comments.
I purchased my 1st lathe to turn these. And then fell into pens and playing with other bits.
Starting to make my own blanks now with mixed results.
The black and gold is one of my blanks, find they turn well for up to a week then get a little brittle still working on the mix, lol

They are lovely, but what purpose do they serve, is it purely decorative/fashion?

I suppose they are a both decorative and have a purpose, lol
They are the mouth bit. like you would have on a pipe if you get me.
There is a growing demand for this type of item in the vaping world of electronic cigarettes, as the hobby side of it is growing.
I've been involved with the industry since 2009 and made many things in that time.
However for the 1st time I found I was actually enjoying being stuck in the work shop when the lathe arrived, lol

They look well turned & finished though I haven't a clue what you're all going on about, vaping world :goesred:
I remember me old grandma going on about having a fit of the vapers, I bet Woody knows all about that :whistling:

LOL PhillH no problem at at all.
The inserts are made for 306 ss and can be purchased through a spanish company called pink mule.
They are made by a company called Siam.

I have a site set up I sell them through but won't post it here as might be against the rules.
They sell for around £9.99 for the acrylic ones and £15 for the wood.
Some of the guys in the US are selling for $36 a pop.
It's becoming a big thing in the UK.
I turn around 30 a week, Finish work and head for the shop and do 5 every night.
5 on Sat then spend all day finishing the tops and micro mesh finish.
Got a big show coming in Aug Vape fest which will be held in the midlands.
I help put the show together and have a stand this year.

I'm also a presenter on a vaping net tv show for VTTV or vapour trails TV.
I'm hoping to include some lathe action to the show next week, lol
That should be a laugh.

Yes Jim my daughter is 6 and made her a dolls house and got a set of very small tools to do just that.
TBH I'm crap at pens and other stuff, lol
I got the lathe to make the these and fell into pens etc.
So a new learning thing for me atm.
This is why I looked at forums as I want to get more into turning other things.
Met a guy in the Isle of wight who writes for a turners mag and had a good chat.
Top bloke and gave me some good pointers.
Looking to join a turners club locally and found one just down the road.
