Some of my Hybrid blanks

Hey all,

Found this section of the forum and thought I would share some of my own Hybrid castings. I experiment quite a bit with different woods and have got heavily into stabilising also. I only use epoxy (tried polyester out with a friend of mine and we both got a little... well high...) I have been casting for around 1.5years and absolutely love it! My wife got involved with it to help me out choosing colours and pours, but my 3 year old has since pushed her out the way and creates some of his own blanks too! He loves coming in the workshop with me, and it is nice to show him what I do and how I do it.

Excellent William, wonderful combinations and colouring. Have you tried stamps, pictures and labels?

thanks john! i have considered stamps, pictures dont interest me and labels is another one that could be a possibility in the future. The trouble with picture blanks is that the majority of them are copyrighted. I know the commercial chance of being pulled on such a thing very small but still I want to condone myself the best way I possibly can. Also I dont really have the set up to produce them.

Thanks Graham. I must admit the colours are amazing. I have been trialling a supplier for colours who i purchased some off before. I bought a job lot and got sent some stunning colours. I am extremely happy with them. My son has an eye for colours, most of the ones above are his designs.

I got given some deer antler recently by a friend of mine. It was part of a legal cull in Berkshire. I have never used it before and was unsure how best to set it. I stabilised it, knowing full well I doubt it was going to make much of a difference but thought I would try dying it, being the first time I had ever attempted it. I know for a first attempt they came out well but think in future I would want to put more of it in the mold so you get more of the effect.
