A nice set of pens:thumbs:the spalted sycamore looks a little raggedy at the bottom finial and the nib end.

I seem to have a problem with the spalted timbers doing this and can't seem to get it right..

If it's very spalted and soft then lots of CA is needed.

I hear people talk soaking.. does this mean put whole blank in a bath of can or just drop it on ??

No, just drop it on and keep doing it until it will not soak any more in, use thin or super thin. Also do it on the ends.

As you turn you may need to add more CA as it won't have penetrated all the way through.

A lovely set of pens there Graeme. Super thin ca soaks in the most. Drop some on the ends before you put it on the mandrel to harden them up.

Beautiful work Graeme, all finished to a very high standard. :thumbs:
That's another thing I like about the Omega, you can add some shape to it, and it doesn't look bulbous.
