Just had an idea.

If I bought a "standard" nib unit ie Jowo #5 (or other), there's nothing to stop me running a 6mmx0.5 die down it (gently of course, possibly after removing 0.5mm off the dia) and then the problem of the non-standard taps and dies goes away.

This assumes that there is enough material but it's probably worth a go as it's only 0.25mm each side.

Paulm: If when you scour the nets for taps and dies as I have looking for the elusive 6.5mmx0.5 you could lookout for the BSB (British Standard Brass,English sizes only) these are 26tpi for all diameters ie if you use 1/2" it's still 26tpi which I reckon is good for cap to body. Luckily I have a box of them from my Dad.

Off to sunny Crete today so I won't get to start experimenting for a couple of weeks (sob, sob)
