Yes, this wood ex Woody has certainly produced some fine pens on this forum!
Doug, After sanding to 1500, I gave it a wipe of BLO, waited for that to dry, then 3 coats of BLO and CA. Used these instead of friction polish because the wood was a bit soft and needed a bit of "backbone" to resist dents, etc.

That's lovely spalting and a lovely finished pen. I have an Apple tree trunk halved length wise then split into two, happily spalting away. I hope it get somewhere as nice as that one.
