I finally managed to get a pen turned. I bought this kit Months ago to make a pen for myself. I had one bit of spalted beech left that looked like it would turn well. Very impressed with the kit. I wasn't sure a high gloss finish would show the wood at it's best so I opted for 3 thin coats of melamine and didn't burnish too much.

That's a really nice pen Craig, gorgeous chatoyance in the wood, and the spalting really goes great with the Mistrals accents.

Now that is a pen to be proud of Craig. A very nice blank with good grain matching & a super fit & finish. I feel the finish is just right for the timber & of course the kit is superb. Very well done mate.
