An Upgrade Gold Bullet Pen from Timberbits with spalted Rhododendron and a CA finish, made for the grandson of a friend who has 12 acres of woodland infested with Rhododendron some of the bits I have are 5-6 inches diameter.

That is a lovely piece of wood Peter and you've made a cracking pen from it with a superb finish.

Although not a personal lover of this type of kit I think you have made a super job of it and the wood looks great !!!!

I have to say I am not thrilled about the kit, but my mate's grandson gave me two shells he had found to make him a pen and they have been tidied away and so I made him this as a stopgap until the shells turn up.

I know what you mean and the only reason I tried it was because my sister in France had seen a pine cone pen and I said it must have been in resin and she had asked the guy who made it and he said he doesn't do resin. So I thought about it for a couple of weeks (my brain works like that) and thought if he can do it then there must be a way, then the lightbulb moment and voila, Cône de pin on a plume for my tante.

So have you turned them yet:devil: why not?
