Stabilising?

This whole stabilised blank thing has me a bit confused:thinks: I have seen wood blanks ready stabilised and read about some that need stabilised as they are being turned. How do you know when to stabilise or not?

One instance of stabilising is a very holey or punky piece of burr. It would need to be flooded with super thin ca glue that wicks its way into the wood and bonds it together. If I've got any of that wrong someone will correct me :thinks:

i have a piece of buckeye...not the forum member
it is lighter than a feather
i will ...on advice from this forum...be soaking in ca before during and after turning ...several times during the turning i guess
