Tuart, a member of the eucalyptus family and, without the ripple, would only be impressive as firewood. However, saw a brick sized piece at woodturning club and bought it for a quid! Here it is on a JR Gent in Gun Metal, sanded to 320 and then stained and lightly sanded when dry with a quick attack of 400 grit in both directions to get rid of the raised fibres, sealed with a bit of EEE and then given three coats of CA and the micromesh treatment.

Quite like it.
