Well done you I have considered doing a set in the past but like so many others I haven't got the patience if you want to see a real master chess set maker google Bill Jones chess set you will be amazed each of his main pieces are made up of several bits that screw together he was turning into his 90s and started as a young boy in his Dads factory most of his skills sadly died with him

Brilliant, love to see it.
Reminds me of being a young lad and having an after school chess club, I learned the basics and went home to show my dad what I had learned.
We built our own chess set and table and played many a cold winters night away by a warn coal fire.
When we cleared the house after his death that was the thing I wanted to have and only that.
My sister had already taken it weeks before and her son had ruined it to the extent she used it to start her bbq.
Still hate her for that init?
I hope yours will be cherished and passed on to someone who will love it.

I too would love to do one of these but I fear I just lack the patience.

We treasure a lovely set that my Mum bought the kids before she died. Great to while some time away and every time we play we all remember Grandma.

Can't wait to see it finished, 'cos it's looking good so far.

Good luck with it Don, please keep us in the loop with the progress .. Are the pieces part turned and hand carved or on a scroll saw? These do look good ..

Great job so far. Look forward to seeing the completed set. I would not fancy the turning of the pawns 16 all the same

That looks good so far, hate to think how long it will take to complete but will be well worth it. Look forward to more pics as you go
